Rahway Theatre was built in the early 1920's for vaudeville performances and movie screenings. New Jersey's very own hub of opulence and splendor, just south of Broadway and North of Philadelphia, attracted the finest acts in theatre, dance, and music and brought the city of Rahway into a great prosperity. Locals are still baffled, however, how on it's opening night in October 1928, at the city's social event of the year, a patron and child went missing, Carla Peterson, 66, and the youngest of a Rahway family, Cynthia Cutting, 6. Mystifying to investigators and the community, young Cynthia Cutting was home that evening with her sitter while her parents were at the opening gala. To this day there has been no trace of the three, and they have all been pronounced dead in absentia. Since that evening in 1928, there have been several other occurrences near the theater, none of which can be explained.
